Shorty farmed for many years on his farm in Fort White, Florida.  He was with Florida Department of Corrections and left with the rank of Lieutenant. Shorty and Bernice were former owners of Fort White FRM, The Florida Welcome Station and G &S Trees.  He was a great mentor and role model to many young people during his professional life.

Shorty was a mason and for many years active in the High Springs Masonic Lodge #137, where he was proud to serve as Worshipful Master.
