ALACHUA – A 20-year-old Alachua man is facing 15 criminal charges after deputies say he committed acts of domestic violence during two separate incidents and later threatened the deputy who arrested him.

Andrew Allen Lewis was arrested June 13, 2026, following an investigation into a reported domestic violence incident at a residence in Alachua. According to an arrest report filed by the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, Lewis is accused of assaulting a woman, damaging property, preventing emergency calls and threatening the victim and her family.

Deputies were dispatched after receiving a call from the victim, who was reportedly screaming during the phone conversation with emergency dispatchers.

According to the report, the victim told deputies she and Lewis had maintained an on-and-off relationship for more than a year and that she had invited him to her residence the night before. She said the two began arguing after Lewis arrived upset that a nearby McDonald’s was closed.

The victim told deputies she retreated to her bedroom and locked the French doors to separate herself from Lewis. Investigators reported that Lewis allegedly pulled on the door handles until trim surrounding the doors broke away.

The victim said she repeatedly asked Lewis to leave the residence, but he refused. After spending the night in separate rooms, she again told him to leave the following day, according to the report.

Deputies say the argument escalated when Lewis allegedly took the victim’s cellphone. She reportedly regained possession of the phone and attempted to run outside to call 911, but Lewis allegedly took it again and threw it to the ground.

According to the arrest report, the victim recovered the phone and locked herself inside the residence while calling 911. Lewis allegedly forced his way through a back door, grabbed her by the neck and attempted to take the phone again.

The report states the victim attempted to flee but was allegedly prevented from leaving the residence. Deputies say Lewis then began throwing objects in the living room, damaging several items.

Investigators further allege Lewis entered the victim’s bedroom, picked her up and threw her into a mirror before taking her phone, purse and computer and running toward his vehicle. The victim reportedly recovered the items and returned inside, but Lewis allegedly followed her back into the residence.

As deputies approached the area, Lewis allegedly left the scene after telling the victim, “If you press charges, I will kill your family and shoot your house up.”

Deputies later located Lewis and conducted a traffic stop at approximately 2:56 p.m. as his vehicle exited Interstate 75 onto Northwest 39th Avenue in Gainesville.

While being transported to jail, Lewis allegedly kicked the interior of the patrol vehicle, damaging a speaker housing and causing approximately $750 in damage. Deputies also reported that Lewis attempted to kick out a rear window and opened a personal cooler belonging to the deputy, drinking multiple bottles of a sports beverage stored inside.

According to the arrest report, Lewis also made comments directed at the arresting deputy during transport. Deputies reported Lewis said the deputy would one day be shot in the line of duty. When asked whether the statement was intended as a threat, Lewis allegedly described it as “a foreshadowing.”

The report further states Lewis later challenged the deputy to a fight and allegedly said he “would whip the living sh** out of you.”

In addition to the June 13 allegations, Lewis was charged in connection with a separate domestic violence incident reported June 8.

According to that report, the victim told deputies Lewis came to her residence and became involved in an argument. She reportedly locked herself in a bathroom and began recording video on her cellphone. Investigators said the recording showed her repeatedly instructing Lewis to leave.

The victim told deputies she later exited the bathroom believing Lewis had departed, but allegedly encountered him in the kitchen. Lewis is accused of charging at her, throwing her into a hallway wall, dragging her into a room and slamming her head into a door frame.

The victim reported that after she attempted to flee, Lewis grabbed her phone, pulled at her shirt, kneed her in the face and broke her nose before forcing her to the ground and injuring her hand. He allegedly fled after she threatened to call law enforcement.

Lewis was charged with two counts of hindering communication with 911 services, burglary with battery, witness tampering, felony criminal mischief, false imprisonment, two counts of domestic battery, two counts of threatening a law enforcement officer, misdemeanor criminal mischief, resisting an officer without violence and three counts of theft.

Court records show Lewis has no prior criminal convictions. He was previously arrested in 2025 on charges of burglary of a vehicle and resisting an officer without violence, but those charges were later dropped.

Judge David Kreider ordered Lewis held without bail on the burglary with battery and false imprisonment charges pending a hearing on a State Attorney’s Office motion seeking pretrial detention. Judge Joy Danne set an additional $20,000 bond related to the June 8 domestic battery case.

As with all criminal cases, the charges against Lewis are allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
