ALACHUA – Santa Fe High School resumed normal operations Tuesday afternoon after law enforcement officers completed a campus search prompted by a bomb threat and found no explosive or suspicious devices, according to the Alachua Police Department.

The incident began earlier Tuesday when an anonymous caller reported that a bomb had been placed at a specific location on campus.

Officers from the Alachua Police Department responded to the school alongside personnel from the High Springs Police Department and the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office.

School officials placed the campus on lockdown while students were secured in a safe location as authorities conducted a systematic search of the property. The search included assistance from an Alachua County Sheriff’s Office bomb-detection K-9 unit.

Authorities temporarily restricted access to the campus during the investigation and asked parents and community members not to come to the school while first responders worked to secure the area.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., police announced that the search had been completed and that no bomb or suspicious devices had been located.

The lockdown was lifted and normal school operations resumed later Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators said the incident appears to be connected to a recent series of swatting-related calls reported across Alachua County. Authorities have not released information about the source of the call, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Swatting incidents typically involve false emergency reports intended to trigger a large law enforcement response.

The incident prompted a significant public safety presence around the school throughout the afternoon, with multiple law enforcement agencies assisting in the response.

Police thanked students, parents, school staff and community members for their cooperation during the investigation.

No injuries were reported.
