obituary2012 160 80Glenn Paul Hubler, 75, of High Springs, passed away Dec. 23, 2012 at his home.

Mr. Hubler was born on Oct. 8, 1937 in Ashland, Pennsylvania and moved to Fort Lauderdale in 1970 before re-locating to High Springs in 1996.

He served 22 years in the U.S. Coast Guard and retired in 1976 as a Chief Gunners mate. Mr. Hubler was also a Vietnam veteran.

In 1996, he retired from the Sloan Pump Company, which specialized in developing hydraulic pumps, wellpoint systems and jet pumps. Most recently, he owned and operated a mobile vehicle detailing business, Gatortail Detail.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and the U.S. Coast Guard Chief Petty Officers Association. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, camping and watching Gator football and NASCAR on television.

Mr. Hubler is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elmira “Ellie” Hubler; daughters, Glenda Cole of Keystone Heights and Heather Murphy of High Springs; and son, Jeffrey Hubler of High Springs.

He also has six grandchildren, Jamie Olsen, Amanda Drew, Megan Bohn, Corey Rhodes, Shad Hubler and Christopher Hubler and five great-granddaughters, Courtney Wootten, Jenna Olsen, Summer Drew, Piper Drew and Hellena Bohn.

A public memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Evans-Carter Funeral Home, 220 North Main Street, High Springs.
