Obituary2012  Murl Westmoreland, 84, High Springs resident, passed away July 12, 2012 in Gainesville, Fla.

She was a teacher in the Alachua County School System and a member of the Methodist Faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. “Biddy” Westmoreland.

She is survived by sons; Hal Westmoreland, Missola, Mont., John (Mary) Westmoreland, Keystone Heights, Fla., Matt “Rena” Westmoreland, High Springs, Fla.; three grandchildren, Courtney Rider, Mark Westmoreland and Colby Westmoreland; two great-grandchildren, Chloe Westmoreland and Caleb Westmoreland.

Visitation was Sunday, July 15, 2012 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Evans-Carter Funeral Home, High Springs. Memorial Service was held Monday, July 16, 2012 at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Benton Mangueira officiating.  Flowers are welcome, but those who wish, may make donations to Florida United Methodist Children’s Home, 51 Main Street, Enterprise, FL  32725. Arrangements are under the care of Evans- Carter Funeral Home, 220 Main St. High Springs, FL.

Obituary2012  Max Garland Wells, 82, of Alachua, Fla. passed away June 30, 2012.

Mr. Wells was born in Dawson, WV. He served in the US Air Force and was the owner and broker with Towne Real Estate in Alachua.  He also was a CPA with Air America for 20 years.  He was a commissioner for the Alachua County Housing Authority for 25 years.

He is survived by his wife, Rheda; sons, Derek Wells (Penny) of Vero Beach, Fla., and Brandon Wells (Renay) of Alachua; four grandchildren, Brittany, Raegan, Chelsea and Nathan.

No funeral service will be held, as requested by Max. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.

Obituary2012  Anna Ruth Sumpter-Wilson, 97, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 28, 2012 surrounded by family and friends.

Mrs. Sumpter-Wilson was born to the late Lewis and Eva Sumpter in Fort White, Fla.  She moved to High Springs in 1945.  She was preceded in death by husbands Andrew Black and Pedro Wilson and son Johnny T. Franklin.

She joined Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and served faithfully for many years.

She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter, Minnie Ruth Davis, of High Springs; one step daughter, Ella Thompson, of Sacramento, Calif., sons Lewis (Barbara) Black of West Palm Beach, Fla., Aaron (Deloris) Black, Alphonso (Marcia) Wilson both of Missouri City, Texas, and Maurice (Joan) Wilson, Sr. of Richmond, Texas; 22 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, 32 great great grandchildren; daughter-in-law Irma Franklin of Salamis, Calif., two adopted daughters, Paula Joyner Simmons and Teresa Joyner; one god son Ronald Durr; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many caring friends.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. W. F. Cunningham and Rev. Bernard Walker, Eulogist.  Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Obituary2012  Sara Harriett Curry, 87, of High Springs, Fla., passed away on July 3, 2012 in Gainesville, Fla.

She was a member of the Baptist Faith.

She is survived by cousins, Maston O’Neal and Maston A. O’Neal, III, both of Orlando, Fla., and friend, Charles Seip of High Springs.

Funeral service was held on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in High Springs, with Rev. Don Mauldin officiating.

Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, Jacksonville, Fla.

Obituary2012  Bernard C. Williams, Jr., 26, of Gainesville, Fla., departed this life on Sunday, July 1, 2012 after a sudden illness.  He lived in Alachua during his childhood and attended the local schools.  He was a graduate of Gainesville High School class of 2004.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bernard C. Williams, Sr.

Survivors include his mother, Sandra M. Williams of Alachua, Fla., sisters, Marquita C. Diston (Robert) of High Springs, Fla. Jasmine C. Williams, Worthington Springs, Fla., brother, Bernard C. Williams, II, Alachua, Fla., paternal grandmother, Inez A. Williams of Alachua, Fla., and nephew, Rylan E. Diston of High Springs, Fla.

Graveside services will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery, Gainesville, Fla., under the direction of Tony Tanner Funeral Home Ocala, Fla., on July 7, 2012 at 10 a.m.
