William L. (Bill) Trevarthan, Sr., 84, a longtime resident of High Springs, went to his eternal home on Sunday, Jan. 24, at E.T. York Care Center, following a long illness. He moved to High Springs in 1971 from Miramar, Florida. Bill was a member of First Baptist Church of High Springs. He retired in 1989 after 38 years with Southern Bell. He served his country for 25 years in the U.S. Air Force and Army Reserve.

Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Biggs Trevarthan; his son, William L. Trevarthan, Jr.; parents Fred and Martha Trevarthan; six brothers and three sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Wynona Trevarthan of High Springs, son, Dan (Vicky) Trevarthan of Valrico, Florida; daughter, Susan (Kim) O’Steen, of High Springs; grandchildren, Wyatt Osteen and Danica Gordon; and great grandchildren, Tessa and Dinica Gordon.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016 at 11:30 a.m., with visitation to start at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church of High Springs. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Haven Hospice, 4200 NW 90thBlvd., Gainesville, or First Baptist Church of High Springs Building Fund.

Mr. Edward Brown, Jr., 77, of Ft. White, Florida, passed away on Monday, Jan. 25, 2016.

Mr. Brown was born in Gilchrist County, Florida on Aug. 21, 1938 to Edward and Helen Brown, Sr. He was a Leadsman at a PVC factory and an O. P. S. at Ichetucknee State Park. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking and running his dogs. He adored his grandchildren and great-grands and loved spending time with them. He was a charter member of the 160 Hunt Club. Mr. Brown attended Summit Baptist Church in High Springs, Florida.

He is survived by his wife, Ethel A. Brown of Ft. White; sons, Rlanda “Teena” P. Tyndal of Virginia, Johnny E. (Joann) Brown of High Springs, Florida, and David E. Brown of High Springs; daughters, Leila (Ellis) Lindsey of High Springs and Donna J. Brown of Ft. White; brothers, Sam. J. (Lillian) Brown of High Springs, Lester (Beverly) Brown of Trenton, Florida, Larry (Madaline) Brown of Bell, Florida and Tommy Brown of Bell; sisters, Mary Lou Rain, Virginia Brown, Francis Sanders and Vinny Ann Schofield, all of Bell; 20 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Summit Baptist Church in High Springs with Rev. Rick Lawrence officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Grove Cemetery in Alachua, Florida. A visitation will be held at Summit Baptist Church Friday, Jan. 29, 2016 between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Summit Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 12, High Springs, FL, 32655.

Wayne Lamar Freeney, 60, of High Springs died on Friday, December 19, 2014.

He was born to the late Robert Lee Freeney, Sr. and Betty Ruth Fells Freeney. Mr. Feeney was a 1972 graduate of Santa Fe High School.

He is survived by brother, Robert Lee (Johnnie Mae) Freeney, Jr.; sisters Linda Leeks, Elizabeth Ronnice Freeney-Nixon and Valerie (Johnny) Herron; uncles Jimmy and Aaron Fells; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Memorial Service for Mr. Freeney will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the chapel at A. Jerome Brown Funeral Home, 1560 NW 1st Ave., High Springs, FL 32643; 386-454-1110.

Donald Pressley 68, of Alachua went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, at his home following a long illness. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida, on Nov. 20, 1946, and graduated from Santa Fe High School with the class of 1965. Donald was a veteran of the Viet Nam war, and a member of North Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He retired from Bell South after 37 years, and was a former resident of Port St. Lucie.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years Sherri Pressley of Alachua, his mother Eva Ergle of High Springs, daughters Laura Bryan of Jacksonville and Lisa Pressley of Green Cove Springs, his brother Glenn (June) Pressley of Alachua, his sister Sharon (Terry) Malphurs, his grandsons Cade and Ethan, and his Aunt Della Cox of Alachua.

Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015 at 3 p.m. at North Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, CR 239, Alachua. Burial with military honors followed in the church cemetery.

Diane Nannette Phillips, 72, of Boca Raton, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014 after a long battle with cancer.  Diane was born on June 13, 1942 in Brooklyn, New York to George and Ruth Cohen. She was passionate about traveling, music, friends and family. Loving, generous and kind to all, she never met a stranger. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Everette D.
