ARCHER – A registered sex offender with a lengthy criminal history was arrested Saturday after a man was allegedly pulled from a vehicle, punched and robbed of cash near a church parking lot in Archer.

Cuncy Lee Dillards II, 35, known by the nickname “Tank,” faces charges of unarmed robbery and burglary with battery following the May 1, 2026, incident at the corner of Southwest 170th Street and Southwest 143rd Avenue. He is being held without bail pending a court hearing.

An Alachua County Sheriff’s deputy responded to the scene at approximately 11:45 a.m. and made contact with two men in a white 2025 Nissan parked in a church driveway.

The victim, Dexter Boykin, told the deputy that Dillards approached the vehicle, opened the passenger door and pulled him out, punching him and grabbing at his pockets. Boykin said the suspect took approximately $100 in cash and ripped his shirt and pants before walking away northbound on Southwest 170th Street. Boykin told deputies that Dillards was possibly homeless and was known to frequent the area north of the intersection.

The driver of the vehicle corroborated Boykin’s account, telling deputies he witnessed Dillards open the door, enter the vehicle and begin hitting and pulling Boykin before taking the money.

Witnesses in the area told deputies they heard an argument and then saw a man walk away, providing a description and identifying him by the nickname “Tank.” One witness said Boykin told him the suspect had taken money directly from his pocket.

An anonymous caller to the Alachua County Communications Center later reported that Dillards was at a structure known as “the shed” near Southwest 170th Terrace and Southwest 128th Place. A deputy who responded to that location did not immediately locate him, but the caller reported that Dillards had fled into nearby woods when he saw law enforcement arrive. Deputies ordered him to come out, and Dillards emerged, acknowledging that he goes by “Tank” but giving his name as Cuncy Dillards.

During the arrest, deputies found a metal straw with burnt ends and a burnt copper scouring pad, items consistent with drug paraphernalia, in Dillards’ pockets. He was initially arrested on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge.

After a witness to the robbery positively identified Dillards in a photo lineup, investigators added charges of unarmed robbery and burglary with battery.

Court records show Dillards has seven prior felony convictions, including one sexual offense, and six misdemeanor convictions. He has served three separate state prison sentences, with his most recent release in 2023. He is listed as a registered sexual offender with the Florida Department of Corrections, where his residence is recorded as transient.

Alachua County Circuit Judge Adam Lee ordered Dillards held without bail. A hearing on a motion by the State Attorney’s Office to continue that no-bail status through trial is pending. If the motion is denied, bail will be set at that hearing.
