NEWBERRY – Assistant City Manager and Chief Financial Officer Dallas Lee was recognized during the June 8, 2026, Newberry City Commission meeting after receiving a statewide award from the Florida City and County Management Association (FCCMA).

City Manager Jordan Marlowe presented Lee with the FCCMA’s Assistance in Excellence Award, highlighting a career that began more than 17 years ago when Lee joined the City of Newberry as an unpaid intern.

Since then, Lee has advanced through the ranks of city government and now serves in a key leadership role overseeing financial operations and administrative functions.

Marlowe noted that under Lee’s stewardship, the City of Newberry earned its seventh consecutive Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association in 2025, continuing a streak of recognition for the city’s financial management and transparency.

The city also produced a video tribute, posted on its Facebook page, featuring employees, department heads and elected officials who reflected on Lee’s contributions to municipal government.

Those participating in the video praised Lee’s professionalism, innovation and commitment to public service.

Assistant City Manager Jamie Jones said Lee is driven by a desire to improve city services.

“He wants to understand and improve the services for the citizens of Newberry,” Jones said.

Marlowe praised Lee’s leadership style and dedication to the community.

“He has wisdom beyond his years and exhibits a steady, thoughtful approach to leadership that strengthens every department he touches,” Marlowe said.

Marlowe also highlighted Lee’s focus on residents and city programs.

“He has a heart for our residents that shines through every policy he writes, every initiative he spearheads and every program he pioneers,” Marlowe said.

Following the presentation, commissioners and audience members rose for a standing ovation in recognition of Lee’s accomplishments and years of service to the city.

The award places Lee among municipal leaders recognized statewide for excellence in local government administration and public service.
