WALDO – Family, friends, city officials and community members gathered May 26, 2026, to celebrate the retirement of Kim Worley, whose 25-year tenure as Waldo city manager helped guide the city through decades of growth, challenges and change.
The retirement celebration recognized Worley’s quarter-century of service to the city and highlighted the impact she has had on the community and the people she worked alongside throughout her career.
As part of the event, Waldo City Council Chair Glen Johnson presented Worley with a Key to the City in recognition of her years of dedication and leadership. Waldo Mayor Louie Davis also honored Worley with a crystal vase filled with flowers. The commemorative vase featured an etched diamond and inscriptions recognizing her accomplishments during her time with the city.
In addition to the official presentations, Diana Davis presented Worley with a craft case and a gift card to a craft supply store on behalf of a group of well-wishers. The gift reflected one of Worley’s well-known passions outside of City Hall — her talent for creative arts and crafts.
Throughout the celebration, attendees shared gifts, cards and messages of appreciation, offering heartfelt thanks for Worley’s service and commitment to the city. Friends, colleagues and residents reflected on her years of public service and the relationships she built while helping oversee municipal operations and community initiatives.
The gathering served as both a farewell and a tribute to a public servant whose career has been closely tied to the city’s history for more than two decades. Although honored at the May 26 celebration, Worley will remain officially employed with the City of Waldo through the end of June before beginning retirement. As she prepares for that next chapter, community members offered their gratitude and best wishes for the future.
