Walmart Could Come to Farmlands After 3-2 Rezoning Vote

Farmlands Rezoning Approved in 3-2 Vote

ALACHUA – Shortly after midnight Tuesday, following a meeting that began at noon Monday, the Alachua City Commission voted 3-2 to approve the rezoning of the Farmlands property, clearing a key land-use hurdle for a development that could include a future Walmart.

Commissioners Jackson Youmas and Jacob Fletcher voted against the rezoning. The approval allows the proposed development to move forward, but does not guarantee that a Walmart will ultimately be built at the site.

The complete story will be published in the July 30 edition of Alachua County Today.
