Chiefland Woman Gets 10 Years in Sex Case

ALACHUA – A 39-year-old Chiefland woman has been sentenced to 10 years in state prison after pleading no contest to unlawful sexual activity with a 16- or 17-year-old victim in a case investigated by the Alachua Police Department.

According to court records, Chiarel Ruby Davis was sentenced July 13, 2026, by Judge Susanne Wilson Bullard to 10 years in the Florida Department of Corrections, with credit for four days already served. Upon her release from prison, Davis will serve five years of sexual offender probation.

Davis entered a plea of nolo contendere, or no contest, on May 19 to one count of unlawful sexual activity with a minor, a second-degree felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison. Three additional charges filed in the case were dropped before sentencing.

The case stems from an Alachua Police Department investigation that began in 2025 after a concerned parent contacted authorities.

According to a police department news release issued following Davis’ arrest in May 2025, investigators alleged Davis engaged in sexual activity with a juvenile victim, provided marijuana to the minor and exchanged sexually explicit messages and images. Investigators also alleged she arranged unsupervised meetings with the juvenile without the knowledge or consent of the child’s parents.

Additional details surrounding the allegations have not been released because the arrest report remains sealed.

A second defendant, Nicholas Jabari Scott, was also arrested during the investigation. According to police, Scott is accused of sending sexually explicit images to one of the juvenile victims and communicating with the minor in a manner that violated Florida law.

Court records show Scott remains in the Alachua County Jail awaiting trial on the pending charges.

Davis’ sentence falls below the statutory maximum of 15 years for the offense but includes an additional five years of supervised sexual offender probation after her prison term.

The case remains active as prosecutors continue pursuing charges against Scott.
