ALACHUA – Downtown Alachua will again fill with live music Friday nights as the Levitt AMP Alachua Music Series returns to Skinner Park for a fall run beginning Aug. 28.
The series will feature five consecutive Fridays of blues, reggae, funk, Latin music and a cappella, with performances from 6 to 9 p.m. Admission is free.
The season opens Aug. 28 with blues performer Sheba the Mississippi Queen, along with the Keith Caton Band. Propaganjah will bring reggae to the stage Sept. 4, followed by funk band The Headtones on Sept. 11.
Orchestra Fuego will perform Latin music Sept. 18, and The Edge Effect will close the series Sept. 25 with an a cappella performance.
Each evening will include an opening performance, a featured local nonprofit organization and a headlining act.
The concerts are presented in a picnic-style setting, with attendees encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Organizers are also encouraging visitors to patronize downtown restaurants and businesses while attending the events.
In addition to providing free entertainment, the series is intended to bring residents and visitors to downtown Alachua and provide exposure for local businesses and community organizations.

The Levitt AMP Alachua Music Series is presented by the Alachua Business League, with sponsorship from the City of Alachua and Visit Gainesville, Alachua County, and a partnership with Josh’s Place.
The concerts are held at Skinner Park on Main Street in downtown Alachua and are free and open to the public.
