She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, McArthur “Mac” Kersey.  She is survived by her beloved children, Joel A. (Talana) Kersey, Donna K. (James) Hamm, Charles A. (Patricia) Kersey and Jane (Paul) Hallman and her grandchildren, the pride and joy of her life, Austin Kelley (Denise) Hamm, James Erick (Kim) Hamm, Ted L. Kersey, Steve M. (Michelle) Kersey, Paul R. Hallman, Jr., Allison K. Hallman, James C. Kersey, Patrick C. (Erika) Kersey and great-grandson, Cowen McArthur Kersey.

Visitation was held on Monday, September 17, 2012 from 1 – 2:30 p.m. at Evans-Carter Funeral Home, followed by graveside services at 3 p.m. at High Springs Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Haven Hospice.  Arrangements are in the care of Evans-Carter Funeral Home, High Springs, Fla.

She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Vliet of Alachua and Carol Redwine of Tallahassee; one sister, Jane Carlisle Mazza of Naples; two grandchildren, Robert Redwine of Gainesville and Melissa Redwine of Tallahassee.

Scott Alan Smith, 54, of Alachua, Fla., passed away on September 11, 2012 at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fla.

Scott was born on August 8, 1958 in Osaka, Japan to Robert and Mary Smith.  He was a Professor of Economics at the University of Florida before retiring.  He was of the Catholic faith.

He is survived by his wife, Beth Smith; two sons, Jason Smith of Gainesville, Fla., and Matthew Smith of Alachua; a daughter, Toni Smith of Alachua; a brother, Tim Smith of Pensacola, Fla., and a grandchild, Baylee MacLeod of Alachua.

Mr. Smith was an avid Gator fan.  He loved his three dogs and the light of his life was his granddaughter, Baylee.  He always thought of others and he never let his illness get him down.  He was a great husband, dad and granddad and will be missed by all who knew him.

A service will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at 12 noon at Evans-Carter Funeral Home, 220 North Main Street, High Springs.

Dora Inez Cox, 89, of High Springs, Fla., passed away on September 10, 2012. Mrs. Cox was born in Hague, Fla., on May 13, 1923 to Fred and Leila Daughtery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilber Cox, and son, Wayne Cox.  She is survived by one sister, Maybelline Tyson of Lakeland, Fla., four sons; Marvin Cox of Morriston, Fla., Sidney Cox of Ft. White, Fla., Delathia Cox of Ft. White, and Glenn Cox of High Springs, one daughter, Linda Queen of Bradenton, Fla., 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Evans-Carter Funeral Home in High Springs on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Forest Grove Cemetery in Alachua on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at 11 a.m.
