The University of Florida, Process Development Laboratory is seeking a Process Development Coordinator to direct research, process development, cell line development and optimization of cell culture process conditions for clients of the Center of Excellence for Regenerative Health Biotechnology (CERHB).  The incumbent will be technically responsible for the generation, growth and maintenance of recombinant protein producing cell lines and the production of viral vectors through transfection and infection methods. The incumbent will lead studies involved in the growth of cells to produce viral vectors and proteins (monoclonal antibodies, enzymes, etc.) from the process development stage through current Good manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) full-scale technologies.  The person will work with clients in evaluation of new production methods and investigational materials for pre-clinical use.  The incumbent will be responsible for the transfer of the new methods and processes from Process Development to the cGMPs compliant manufacturing operation for cell culture production.  This person will be responsible for organizing, coordinating, directing and supervising the upstream activities of the Process Development Laboratory to ensure that process and project objectives are achieved. Additional duties involve the planning, scheduling, and drafting Process Development protocols leading to standard operating procedures, production batch records and other relevant controlled documents. This position will also work closely with the Manufacturing, Quality Assurance and Quality Control units.  Finally, this position assists in technology transfer by collaborating with clients on developing new robust and cost efficient processes (upstream) needed for eventual clinical manufacturing, and for transferring them to the GMP manufacturing group.  Position requires a Ph.D in Molecular and Cellular Biology and Biophysics with an emphasis in Biochemistry of bio-macromolecules and bio-therapeutics, including gene transfer.  At least 4 years of successful post-doctoral experience in biology, microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and chemistry with a significant record of peer-reviewed publications.  Solid knowledge in mammalian cell culture and downstream purification and characterization. Use of nucleic acid/polymer complexes (polyplexes) and Nucleic acids/lyposome  complexes.  At least 4 years of post-doctoral experience in  biology, microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and chemistry, mammalian cell culture, nucleic acid transfer analysis methods including flow cytometry and fluorescence microscopy, and analytical methods including spectroscopy, gene expression analysis, Infra-Red, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and HPLC.  Proficiency with the writing of scientific reports/publications, preparation of documents, maintenance of laboratory and laboratory equipment is required. Proficiency with word processing programs and spreadsheets, quantitative skills (calculations, graphic representations) is mandatory, as is a capacity to follow written procedures, and an ability to read, write, and understand English. The University of Florida, Process Development Laboratory is seeking a Process Development Coordinator to direct research, process development, cell line development and optimization of cell culture process conditions for clients of the Center of Excellence for Regenerative Health Biotechnology (CERHB).  The incumbent will be technically responsible for the generation, growth and maintenance of recombinant protein producing cell lines and the production of viral vectors through transfection and infection methods. The incumbent will lead studies involved in the growth of cells to produce viral vectors and proteins (monoclonal antibodies, enzymes, etc.) from the process development stage through current Good manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) full-scale technologies.  The person will work with clients in evaluation of new production methods and investigational materials for pre-clinical use.  The incumbent will be responsible for the transfer of the new methods and processes from Process Development to the cGMPs compliant manufacturing operation for cell culture production.  This person will be responsible for organizing, coordinating, directing and supervising the upstream activities of the Process Development Laboratory to ensure that process and project objectives are achieved. Additional duties involve the planning, scheduling, and drafting Process Development protocols leading to standard operating procedures, production batch records and other relevant controlled documents. This position will also work closely with the Manufacturing, Quality Assurance and Quality Control units.  Finally, this position assists in technology transfer by collaborating with clients on developing new robust and cost efficient processes (upstream) needed for eventual clinical manufacturing, and for transferring them to the GMP manufacturing group.  Position requires a Ph.D in Molecular and Cellular Biology and Biophysics with an emphasis in Biochemistry of bio-macromolecules and bio-therapeutics, including gene transfer.  At least 4 years of successful post-doctoral experience in biology, microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and chemistry with a significant record of peer-reviewed publications.  Solid knowledge in mammalian cell culture and downstream purification and characterization. Use of nucleic acid/polymer complexes (polyplexes) and Nucleic acids/lyposome  complexes.  At least 4 years of post-doctoral experience in  biology, microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and chemistry, mammalian cell culture, nucleic acid transfer analysis methods including flow cytometry and fluorescence microscopy, and analytical methods including spectroscopy, gene expression analysis, Infra-Red, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and HPLC.  Proficiency with the writing of scientific reports/publications, preparation of documents, maintenance of laboratory and laboratory equipment is required. Proficiency with word processing programs and spreadsheets, quantitative skills (calculations, graphic representations) is mandatory, as is a capacity to follow written procedures, and an ability to read, write, and understand English.
