Duties also include cleaning, loading and unloading harvested products. Pulling Plastic. Grade and sort products according to factors such as color, species, length, width, appearance, feel and quality to ensure correct processing and usage. Discard inferior or defective products and/or foreign matter, and place acceptable products in containers for further processing. Weigh products or estimate their weight, visually or by feel. Place products in containers according to grade and mark grades on containers. Measure, weigh and count products and materials. Examine and inspect containers, materials and products to ensure that packing specifications are met. (All tools will be provided at no cost to workers) Clean and maintain work areas. Must assist with all Good Agricultural Practices policies. Perform prolonged bending, reaching, and lifting up to 60 lbs. The worker may inspect field irrigation systems, dig up and replace damaged pipes, valves, water jets, sprinklers, etc. using shovels, wrenches, etc. Repair fences and buildings by mending or replacing wire, damaged posts by putting in new post using hammers, wire stretchers, paint, brushes, etc. Prune blueberry bushes by hand using pruning shears and loppers. Remove debris from fields . Load mulch on trailer and move to fields, unload and spread mulch around plants as needed. Inspect the field to maintain a 3 to 5 foot weed free strip between rows by removing weeds, grass, etc using a hoe or by hand. Duties may include tilling soil, applying fertilizers and applying pesticides. Harvest by use of mechanical equipment, load and transport blueberries to processing shed. Inspect bushes for damage, disease or insect infestation and remove or replace as directed . Clean, adjust and repair machinery and implements, oiling moving parts and replacing damaged parts. Work outside in hot, cold and damp weather; stand for long   periods of time. Hours and days of work may vary due to weather conditions; blueberries are perishable and must be picked and packed within a limited time of harvest. Must be physically able because job will require considerable use of arms, legs and moving whole body, lifting, balancing, stooping, bending and kneeling 80% of the time. Workers should expect occasional periods of little/no work because of weather/crop/other conditions beyond the employers control. Workers will be paid the highest of $10.19 per hr or applicable piece rates depending on crop activity, three fourths guarantee, 35 hrs per week, housing and transportation provided at no cost to workers who cannot reasonably return to their permanent residence at the end of each work day, must be 18 years or older. Transportation and subsistence expenses to the worksite will be reimbursed upon completion of 50% of the work contract. Due to possible Date of Need changes, worker is required to purchase travel insurance if available. We will reimburse the worker for transportation cost (including travel insurance) and subsistence to the employers work site from the place of recruitment upon completion of 50 percent of the contract period. Transportation payment will be no less (and is not required to be more) than the most economical and reasonable common carrier transportation charges for the distances involved. Proper work attire is required long sleeve shirts, long pants, no shorts, hard sole shoes preferably boots, no tennis shoes. If the employee is unable or unfit to perform the duties listed after the 14 day pretrial, the employee's contract may be terminated. Following Supervisors instruction the worker will perform manual labor to hand cut and pack watermelons. Use hand tools such as shears and knives. Duties also include cleaning, loading and unloading harvested products. Pulling Plastic. Grade and sort products according to factors such as color, species, length, width, appearance, feel and quality to ensure correct processing and usage. Discard inferior or defective products and/or foreign matter, and place acceptable products in containers for further processing. Weigh products or estimate their weight, visually or by feel. Place products in containers according to grade and mark grades on containers. Measure, weigh and count products and materials. Examine and inspect containers, materials and products to ensure that packing specifications are met. (All tools will be provided at no cost to workers) Clean and maintain work areas. Must assist with all Good Agricultural Practices policies. Perform prolonged bending, reaching, and lifting up to 60 lbs. The worker may inspect field irrigation systems, dig up and replace damaged pipes, valves, water jets, sprinklers, etc. using shovels, wrenches, etc. Repair fences and buildings by mending or replacing wire, damaged posts by putting in new post using hammers, wire stretchers, paint, brushes, etc. Prune blueberry bushes by hand using pruning shears and loppers. Remove debris from fields . Load mulch on trailer and move to fields, unload and spread mulch around plants as needed. Inspect the field to maintain a 3 to 5 foot weed free strip between rows by removing weeds, grass, etc using a hoe or by hand. Duties may include tilling soil, applying fertilizers and applying pesticides. Harvest by use of mechanical equipment, load and transport blueberries to processing shed. Inspect bushes for damage, disease or insect infestation and remove or replace as directed . Clean, adjust and repair machinery and implements, oiling moving parts and replacing damaged parts. Work outside in hot, cold and damp weather; stand for long   periods of time. Hours and days of work may vary due to weather conditions; blueberries are perishable and must be picked and packed within a limited time of harvest. Workers will be paid the highest of $10.19 per hr or applicable piece rates depending on crop activity, three fourths guarantee, 35 hrs per week, housing and transportation provided at no cost to workers who cannot reasonably return to their permanent residence at the end of each work day, must be 18 years or older. Transportation and subsistence expenses to the worksite will be reimbursed upon completion of 50% of the work contract. Due to possible Date of Need changes, worker is required to purchase travel insurance if available. We will reimburse the worker for transportation cost (including travel insurance) and subsistence to the employers work site from the place of recruitment upon completion of 50 percent of the contract period. Transportation payment will be no less (and is not required to be more) than the most economical and reasonable common carrier transportation charges for the distances involved. Proper work attire is required long sleeve shirts, long pants, no shorts, hard sole shoes preferably boots, no tennis shoes. If the employee is unable or unfit to perform the duties listed after the 14 day pretrial, the employee's contract may be terminated.
