Integrative Health, Gainesville, the current office of Dr. Elizabeth Sanders and Raquel Beauchamp, NP, located at 3780 NW 83rd Street, Gainesville, FL 32606, will be closing its practice on January 30, 2025 . Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate appointments for new patients, as remaining appointments are for existing patients only. Recent patient records may be requested from the new PCP office or specialist by faxing 352-377-9113. Patients may also request their recent records via email to ihpatientinquiries@ies.healthcare or by fax.

Notice is hereby given of intention to apply to the 2025 Regular Legislative Session or subsequent sessions held in 2025 (or after) of the State of Florida Legislature for passage of a bill to provide for compensation for Jacob Rodgers for catastrophic injuries sustained in a motor vehicle collision with a City of Gainesville employee. The damages sustained were determined by an Alachua County Jury. The total amount of the claim sought through the claims bill process is $10,800,000.00. An act for the relief of Jacob Rodgers by the City of Gainesville; providing for an appropriation to Jacob Rodgers as compensation for injuries and damages sustained by Jacob RodgersWHEREAS, on October 7, 2015, Jacob Rodgers was a passenger in a vehicle when it was struck by a vehicle owned by the City of Gainesville d/b/a Gainesville Regional Utilities and operated by an employee, and
WHEREAS, the City of Gainesville d/b/a Gainesville Regional Utilities employee ran a stop sign and struck the side of the vehicle occupied by Jacob Rodgers, and
WHEREAS, Jacob Rodgers, who was 20 years old at the time, sustained catastrophic injuries which included spinal fractures that resulted in Mr. Rodgers becoming a complete paraplegic, which will require supervised medical care, home health care, future medical care, and other services in the future, and
WHEREAS, JACOB RODGERS, brought suit against the City of Gainesville d/b/a Gainesville Regional Utlities, in the Circuit Court of Alachua County, Florida, eighth judicial circuit, case number 2016-CA-000659, and
WHEREAS, the suit was tried before an Alachua County jury, and the jury found the City of Gainesville one-hundred percent at fault, and assessed total damages of $120,000,000.00 dollars, and
WHEREAS, the trial court, pursuant to s. 768.28, Florida Statutes, remitted the verdict which resulted in a final judgment of $18,319,181.20.
WHEREAS, the City of Gainesville appealed the final judgment, resulting in Jacob Rodgers agreeing to the remitter of $18,319,181.20, and the City obtaining a new trial on the issue of comparative negligence of Jacob Rodgers. The damage award of $18,319,181.20, was not reversed by the trial court, and
WHEREAS, the case was remanded back to the trial court for a trial on the sole issue of the comparative negligence of Jacob Rodgers, and
WHEREAS, the parties mediated the case, pursuant to a court order, and the parties reached a settlement agreement that the City of Gainesville d/b/a Gainesville Regional Utilities, would consent to a final judgment of $11,000,000.00.
WHEREAS, the Gainesville Regional Utilities Board adopted and approved the settlement agreement.
WHEREAS, the City of Gainesville, paid the statutory limit of $200,000.00, under s. 768.28.NOW, THERFORE
Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
Section 1. The facts stated in the preamble to this act are found and declared to be true.
Section 2. The City of Gainesville d/b/a Gainesville Regional Utilities is authorized and directed to appropriate from funds not otherwise encumbered and to draw a warrant in the sum of $10,800,000. Payable to Jacob Rodgers to compensate him for personal injuries and damages sustained.
Section 3. The amount paid by the City of Gainesville d/b/a Gainesville Regional Utilities pursuant to s. 768.28, Florida Statutes, and the amount awarded under this act are intended to provide the sole compensation for all present and future claims arising out of the factual situation described in this act which resulted in injuries and damages to Jacob Rodgers. The total amount paid for attorneys fees relating to this claim may not exceed 25 percent of the amount awarded under this act.
Section 4. This act shall take effect upon becoming law.
