ALACHUA COUNTY, FL - The UF/IFAS Extension Alachua County Office is pleased to announce that the January “Plant of the Month” is peaches.Peaches can be eaten on their own or added to a variety of dishes and are a rich source of vitamins A, C, E and fiber. They provide 6% of the daily vitamin A needs and 15% of daily vitamin C needs. One medium peach also contains 2% or more daily value of vitamins E and K, niacin, folate, iron, choline, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, manganese, zinc and copper.January is a good time to grow peaches in North Central Florida.
