James Roger Hensley, Sr.

James Roger Hensley, Sr., 68, of Alachua, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013 at his home. He was born July 6, 1944 in Orlando, Fla., to James Blain and Willa Lee Rogers Hensley.

Mr. Hensley graduated from Wildwood High School and then attended Mars Hill College in North Carolina and the University of South Florida.  After working for Eastern Airlines for 24 years, he started a new career as owner of Hensley’s Nursery and Tree Farm. He loved and was proud of his family and they loved and were proud of him.  He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marcia Windham Hensley; daughters, Kimberly Anne Jones (Barry) of Watkinsville, Ga., and Nancy Hensley Kight (Jess) of Marietta, Ga.; son, James Roger Hensley, Jr. (Danielle) of Alachua; siblings, Joy Fenicle of Orlando, Marilyn Grimes of Wildwood, Fla., Rev. James Hensley of Tennessee and Gail Blanton of Wildwood; six grandchildren, Tyler, Parker, Courtney, Preston, Hayden and Grayson and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Westarea, 823 NW 143^rd Street, with Rev. Faye DeSha officiating.  The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
