Thelma Jean Gause, 93, peacefully passed away after a short illness on Nov. 28. She was a resident of Gainesville and Alachua, attending the Church of Christ in both towns. Upon her death, she was living at the Plantation Oaks Senior Living Facility in High Springs. Her last days were under the care of Nature Coast Hospice.
   She is survived by her two sons, Ronald Gause of Houston, Texas, and Thomas Gause of nearby LaCrosse. She has two grandchildren, Jennifer Perry and Amanda Darby, and three great-grandchildren. Many people in this area were her friends.
   Jean owned and operated the sewing shop on Main Street in Alachua for 15 years. She also worked for Chestnut's Office Supply and Belk Lindsey in Gainesville.
  By her wishes, there will be no funeral services. The family will hold a brief memorial service.

Christopher Mark Hancock, also known as “Country Tarzan,” 56, of Bell, Fla., went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 24, 2013 at North Florida Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

Mr. Hancock graduated from Santa Fe High School, served in the U.S. Army 1979-1982, and was employed by 83 Farms for the past seven years.

He is preceded in death by his mother, “Miss Emma” Hancock; brother-in-law, Steve Kowatch; and grandparents, Henry and Ladora Nettles and Burl and Jewel Vaughn. He leaves behind to celebrate his homegoing, his children, Marty and Bridgette Hancock; his father, Remer Hancock; brothers, Reno (Margaret) Hancock, Rex (Mary Jo) Hancock; sisters, Patricia Hancock and Sherry (Mike) Jordan; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and devoted friends. With special thanks to friend, Karen Seeloff.

The family is requesting a celebration of Chris’ homegoing with a viewing to be held Friday, Nov. 29, 6-8 p.m. at Forest Grove Baptist Church, 22575 NW 94^th Avenue, Alachua, Fla. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 30 at 11 a.m. at the same location. Arrangements are under the care of Evans-Carter Funeral Home, High Springs, Fla.

Helen Lucille (Cunningham) Rendek, 90, went home to be with the Lord Monday, Dec. 2, 2013 after a brief illness. She was born Nov. 26, 1923 in Apollo, Penn.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Joseph John Rendek and her sister Gene (Cunningham) Spelman.

She is survived by her brothers, Dale Cunningham, Galen Cunningham, and sisters, Louise Guthrie and June (Jake) Jackson. She is also survived by her children, Karen (Dale) Wiggins, Debbie (Chris) Brown, Kathy (Tim) Cunningham, and David (Kellie) Rendek.

Her eight grandchildren include Matt (Merrill) Wiggins, Holly (Matt) Warren, Timothy Brown, Henry (Amanda) Brown, Shema Brown, Megan (Andrew) Britton, Mac (Sarah) Rendek, and Colee Rendek. Her 12 great-grandchildren include Mason, Micah, and Madeline Wiggins, Livi, Brookes, Landon, and Abby Wiggins, Michael and Sarah Brown, Nathan and Maddison Britton, and Joby Rendek.

The family invites you to join them at Evans-Carter Funeral Home Thursday, Dec. 5 from 6 – 8 p.m. for the viewing and the funeral will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 6 at First Baptist Church of High Springs with graveside service following at High Springs Cemetery.

Myrtis Cone Sullivan, 93, of High Springs, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013 after a brief illness.

She was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, High Springs. She retired from General Electric in Alachua. For many years she volunteered her time serving meals at the High Springs Senior Center.

Her husband, William Cecil Sullivan, granddaughter Teresa Sutton Holley, and great grandson Christopher Sutton preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter Vivian Sutton Robinette; her brother Clifford Cone of Georgia; five grandchildren, David Sutton, Pam Sutton Nobles, William Sutton, Sandy Sutton Logeson, Connie Sutton Fox; nine great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Nov. 3 from 3 p.m. -5 p.m. at Evans-Carter Funeral Home, High Springs. Funeral Services will be held Monday, Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, NW 298^th Street, High Springs. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.
