Obituary2012  Mr. Willie James Dunbar, Sr., 86 of High Springs, Fla., passed on Monday, October 22, at North Florida Regional Hospital in Gainesville, Fla.

He was a member of Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church of High Springs and a retired truck driver.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruebin and Dora Dawson Dunbar, and children Willie Jr., Larry, Jerone and Michael Dunbar; (Loraine Heagles, Idella Hill and Ida Mae Dillon).

He is survived by children Geraldine Dunbar Bradley, Alfonza, Donnie, Famon, Billy James, Dewayne Dunbar, Erma Strawder, Jared and Maehelen Dunbar, Maxine Hill Woodside, Ruthie Hill Moore and Brenda Hill James; sisters Peggy Chesteen and Nellie Mae Smith; brothers Ramon Dunbar and Doshie Hatley; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews cousins and friends.

Memorial Services for Mr. Dunbar will be held on Saturday, October 27 at 11 a.m. at Anderson Memorial Church of God in Christ, 23075 NW 179th Place, High Springs, Elder Lowell T. James, Pastor.

Viewing at the funeral home will be Friday from 6-8 p.m. Services entrusted to A. Jerome Brown Funeral Home 1560 NW 1st Avenue, High Springs.

Obituary2012 Joyce Christian Stevenson, 83, of High Springs, Florida, died Monday, October 16, 2012 at her home with her family at her side, following a long illness.

Mrs. Stevenson was born April 13, 1929, in Port Henry, New York to the late John Oscar and Dorothy Irene Christian.  She moved to High Springs in 1978 along with her husband, the late Raymond Willard Stevenson, who preceded her in death in 2010 after 64 years of marriage.  Mrs. Stevenson was a homemaker, as well as a foster parent, a giving person with a heart of gold.  She loved spending time with her family.  Mrs. Stevenson was a faithful and active member of St. Madeleine’s Catholic Church in High Springs. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Baker of Port Henry, NY and Virginia Ida, of High Springs.

She is survived by one son, Danny (Rachel) Stevenson, of Gainesville; four daughters, Sharon (Thomas) Ida, of Moriah, NY, Kathleen (Stu) Boughton, of Pottstown, PA, Valerie (Mike) Lacey, of Orlando, and Brenda (Drandall) Thacker of High Springs; one sister, Ruth (Ralph) Jaquish, of Moriah, NY.  Thirteen grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren also survive.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 19, 2012 at 1:00 P. M., at St. Madeleine’s Catholic Church,  17155 NW US 441, High Springs, with Fr. Sebastian George, celebrant.  Interment will follow in High Springs Cemetery.  The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 12 noon.  Flowers are welcome, or to those who wish, memorial donations may be made to St. Madeleine’s Catholic Church Angels of Mercy, P. A memorial service for Robert Wesley Butler will be held on October 13, 2012.

Mr. Butler of Louisville, Ky. passed away at the VA Medical Center in Louisville on December 10, 2006 at the age of 62, of an extended illness. He was buried in Louisville Cemetery, under the direction of G.C. William Funeral Home.

He was born and raised in Alachua, Fla. He attended Alachua County Training School (ACT), A.L. Mebane High School and several colleges before being drafted into the U.S. Army. He attended Officer Training School and became a Captain in the Army.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Carmen; parents, Roosevelt Butler and Irma Butler Ruise; sister Velma McNight and uncles and aunts.

Captain Butler is survived by a daughter, Andrea Huey of Louisville; three brothers, Roosevelt (Laura) Butler of High Springs, Fla., Walter (Ann) Butler of Flushing, Mich., Alvin (Reese) Butler of Tampa; two sisters, Carol (Moses) Haile of Gainesville, Virginia Green of Alachua; two grandchildren, Ashley Belcher and Nathan Huey of Louisville, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.

The memorial service will be held on October 13, 2012 at the New St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church, Alachua at 11 a.m., Rev. Daniel H. McNish, Pastor; Rev. J.D. Johnson officiating. Everyone who knew Mr. Butler or the family is asked to come and celebrate his life. The family is reaching out to his friends and classmates from the graduating class of 1962.

Ms. Geraldine Cook, 67, homemaker and life long resident of Fort White, passed away, Thursday, October 4, 2012 at her home.  She was born September 24, 1945 to Eugene Cooks Sr. and the late Lestee McHenry Cook. She attended school in Columbia County.  She was a member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Ft. White.

Ms. Cook was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, family member and friend. She will be missed by her children, Arthur Daniel, Jr., Robert Daniels, Tony Daniels, Arlene Gaddy, Shirley Cooks, all of Gainesville; Anthony Cook and Shawn Daniels both of Fort White; Father, Eugene Cook, Sr. of Fort White; eight sisters and brothers, Mary (Limmie) Campbell, Melvese (Famon, Sr.) Dunbar, Alice (Terry, Sr.) Calloway, Debbie(James) Jones, Eugene Cook, Jr., James Cook all of Fort White; Gwendolyn Hall of Fayetteville, NC and Fred Cook of Jacksonville; 24 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.

Funeral services for Ms. Cook will be held Saturday, October 13, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Ft. White, Rev. Donnell Sanders, Pastor. Burial will follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery. Viewing will be one hour prior to funeral service at the church. Arrangements entrusted to A. Jerome Brown Funeral Home, 1560 NW 1st Avenue, High Springs, FL.

Donnie Dampier, 52, passed away Friday, September 21, 2012.  He was born March 10, 1960.

Mr. Dampier is predeceased by his mother, Beatrice Halpert, and sister–in-law, Delores Hancock.  He is survived by three daughters, Christina, Juelia and Lindsey; three grandchildren, Lexus, Adrian and Derek; father, Bill Dampier; sister, Carolyn Dampier; brothers, Jim Hancock and Travis Dampier; nephew, Shaun Dampier and nieces, Mandy and Katie Suggs.

Donnie will be dearly missed, but will forever be in our hearts.

The Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at Forest Grove Church Cemetery, 8100 NW 226th Street, Alachua, with Pastor Leonard Traina officiating.  Arrangements under the care of Williams-Thomas Funeral Home West Area, 823 NW 143rd Street, Gainesville, Fla.
