Ella Dieffenbacher, 95, passed away Monday June 3, 2013 at Shands Hospital in Gainesville.
Born in Belfast, Ireland in 1918, Ella came to America when she was 5 years old and became a naturalized citizen. Ella lived in New Jersey and worked for the Prudential Insurance Company where she met her husband, Tom. The family moved to Jacksonville, Fla., in 1953 when Prudential opened their southeastern regional office. Ella retired in 1990 as a department head at May Cohen. She was a member of South Jacksonville Presbyterian Church. Ella resided in Alachua since 1991.
Survivors include her daughter Judith A. Malphurs (Bob) of Alachua; son Thomas J. Dieffenbacher of Ocala; grandchildren Jennifer Black of Alachua, Christopher Malphurs and Ashley Malphurs of Gainesville, Thomas J. Dieffenbacher II of Pennsylvania, Rebekah Propst (Ronnie) of Lakeland, James Dieffenbacher and Jonathan Dieffenbacher of Ocala, Benjamin Dieffenbacher and daughter-in-law Jane Dieffenbacher of Chicago, Ill., and great granddaughter Ryleigh Black of Alachua.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, June 15 at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Alachua. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Ella’s memory to: First Presbyterian Church of Alachua, 14623 NW 140th Street, Alachua, FL 32615.
