Mattie Koon

Mattie Koon, 92, of Bell, Fla., peacefully passed away June 21, 2013, and was surrounded by her daughter, Nelda Jane Martens, her grandchildren, Robert Anthony Conrad and Tina Salyers and with Haven Hospice of the Tri-Counties in Chiefland, nurses Joyce and Nancy.

Mattie was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She loved writing to other people encouraging them to read the Bible daily and letting them know that’s how God talks to us. She was on her 7th complete reading of the Bible, gleaning something new each time.

Mattie is survived by her daughter, Nelda Jane Martens of High Springs, Fla., and her son, Edwin Koon of Bell; grandchildren, Wilson W. Conrad, Jr. of Amerston, Ala., Robert Anthony Conrad of Lake City, Fla., Tina Marie Salyers of Lake City; grandchildren and great grandchildren in Colorado; Angela, Jesse and Phoebe Salyers of Lake City and Lucas and Isaiah Conrad of Lake City.

Mattie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Alonzo Koon and her loving son in law, Harold Martens.

A graveside service was held, Monday, June 24, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Fort White Cemetery with Brother Bernie Arndt speaking. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, June 30, 2013, 5 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in High Springs, with Brother Mike Hall speaking.
